Australia’s First Sovereign Contract Airtanker

The Dash 8-400AT, or Q400, arrived at Bundaberg in Queensland, Australia, to kick off a new four year contract which will allow the specialized airtanker to remain on the continent year-round. Thanks to a shared agreement between two Australian states, the operational period is long enough for the airtanker to remain in the country, giving Australia the ability to take an important first step in creating a ‘sovereign’ aerial firefighting fleet, available when needed.
